Wallen's Bend on the Clinch River, Hancock County, Tennesee. Joseph Wallen received a 640 acre land grant from the State of North Carolina in 1787 for his Revolutionary War service. The land was located on the North side of the Clinch River in what was then Sullivan County, North Carolina.  Today the land is in Hancock County, Tennessee.

This is the original 1787 Land Grant (#401) from the State of North Carolina for 640 acres on the North side of Clinch River, granted to Joseph Wallen. It is believed Joseph Wallen first saw the land while on a longhunt with his brother Elisha Wallen and other Longhunters in the 1760's. The
grant is signed by "our Governor Captains General" Richard Caswell.
